In the fifth least literate county in West Virignia, there is one public library. It's about half the size of a one bedroom home. A mile away in Lovely, KY, there is another public library, about the size of a full bedroom home. There are other libraries more than 5 miles out of Kermit. A comparison with St. Louis, which has about 5 public libraries plus the SLU libraries within a five mile radius or where I live, shows a dramatic contrast between the number and variety of books and knowledge within walking distance.
